Editorial Standards

RollCall Media publishes practical operating intelligence for nightlife and hospitality operators. Usefulness matters, but usefulness without evidence can create expensive mistakes. These standards govern every publication in the portfolio.

Evidence and attribution

Material factual claims must be supported by evidence appropriate to the claim. Current claims require current sources. Primary sources are preferred when they exist. Vendor claims are identified as vendor claims unless independent evidence supports a broader conclusion.

We do not invent quotations, venues, operator results, credentials, customer relationships, partnerships, product capabilities, or firsthand experience.

Fact, judgment, and scenarios

Verified facts, editorial interpretation, and modeled scenarios are different forms of information.

Facts must be traceable to evidence.

Interpretation must stay within what the evidence can reasonably support.

Modeled scenarios must be labeled and show the inputs that drive the result. A scenario is not an industry benchmark.

Numbers and methods

Material numbers should include a visible method, source, or set of inputs. When an answer changes with venue size, geography, concept, labor model, or demand pattern, we state that limitation.

Experience and perspective

First person experience requires permission from the person whose experience is used. Published operator accounts must preserve the meaning, consent, and attribution agreed with the source. We do not manufacture personal biographies or lived experience for an editorial voice.

Independence

Editorial judgment is not purchased. Sponsorship, affiliate relationships, and commercial relationships must not alter the evidence standard. When a relevant commercial relationship exists, it should be disclosed clearly.

Corrections

We review specific correction requests against the original evidence and current public record. Confirmed material errors are corrected with a visible note when appropriate. See the Corrections page or email news@rollcall.bar.

Publication control

Drafting, analysis, and review tools do not grant publication authority. Every external release remains subject to human review and an explicit release decision.
